How much do you know about how your organisation produces information? To give your organisation the best chance of success, we suggest you begin with some self assessment and preparation work.
Think about how you currently produce information. Remember that individual pieces of information will not be certified. The scheme focuses on the processes you use to produce information. A proper look at your internal procedures now may save you a lot of time later. Mapping processes in a flow chart format is a great way of formalising what you already do. It will help you decide how compliant you are with The Standard already.

b. Create awareness within your organisation and get buy-in
Going through certification is not a job for one person. It’s crucial to secure the support from other staff, management and stakeholders involved in producing information, since the steps to certification will probably change some of their working practices. It’s likely you’ll also need some support from others to complete the application process, so it’s important to get their buy-in.
